In Lent of 2018 I facilitated a community weaving at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square. The final product was a pulpit cloth whose colors move from Lent into the Easter season.
Weaving can be an intentional spiritual and theological practice, intersecting threads forming crosses and making something new out of many separate parts. The weaving included strips of fabric – some with prayers written on them, and some brought in by members that were meaningful to them.
