Reed Fowler (they/them/he/him) is an ordained pastor in the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. They hold a Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, completing field work at St. John’s Lutheran Church (NYC), Holy Trinity Loop/South Loop Campus Ministry (Chicago), and St. Paul’s House: A Lutheran Life Community (Chicago). They are an INELDA trained end-of-life doula.
They are queer, trans, and an artist. Pastorally, Reed is invested in expansive notions of care, embracing narratives of abundance, and centering alternate and artistic expressions of faith. Artistically, they are multi-medium, working in theater, words, clay, fabric, thread, and plants. They have done academic work on theological support for suicide attempt survivors, and are deepening their knowledge of disability justice.
Reed and their spouse Eric have three cats and a dog, and are founding members of a queer-centered housing cooperative in St. Paul. Reed loves books about magical libraries, watching reality cooking shows, and dreaming about garden layouts, tea blends, and looms.
Reed is currently serving as the associate pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. They are the recipient the 2020 Joel Workin Scholarship through Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries (ELM), and are a postulant in the Order of Ecumenical Franciscans.
